SO Aesthetic is an African luxury makeup brand created out of one artist's frustration with finding correct shades. Founded by Sacha Okoh, who started as a make-up artist in Ghana, her constant frustrations about finding the right shades motivated her to start her own makeup brand for women of colour. It's made for everybody, but the powders are specifically targeted for dark skin. The flagship base is built deliberately for deep tones: Okoh wanted a matte velvet finish foundation with great shades and texture that blends flawlessly, prioritizing a wide variety of shades to suit all skin tones. The discovery/credibility angle is strong: the brand won Ghanaian Owned Brand of the Year 2019 and Best New Makeup Based Product (foundation) at the Pure Beauty Global Awards. Caveat: distribution is largely Accra-based plus its own site, so international buyers may need to order direct.
