Naturally Tiwa Skincare (legally Naturally Tribal Skincare Ltd) is a British, B Corp-certified brand founded by Nigerian-born pharmacist Shalom Lloyd MBE after her infant son Joshua suffered severe eczema in 2014. Drawing on her African heritage and pharmaceutical rigour, she formulated a raw shea butter and baobab oil recipe that cleared his skin within days, the 'eureka' moment that launched the company, which began trading in 2018. What sets it apart is vertical integration: Lloyd re-mortgaged her home to build a shea processing facility in rural Nigeria (plus partnership with JE Oils in Abuja), employing dozens of rural women and producing tonnes of shea butter that's QR-traceable to source. For deep skin, the mostly-waterless, high-shea formulations target eczema, psoriasis, dermatitis and severe dryness, conditions where melanin-rich skin needs gentle, occlusive care. A genuine hidden gem with serious impact credentials. Caveat: distribution remains mostly UK-focused, and the brand uses two names (Tiwa/Tribal) which can confuse sourcing.
