Cinnabar Green
Founded by unknown (John, chairman noted)

Cinnabar Green is a deeply local Kenyan natural cosmetics maker that few outside East Africa have heard of. A patch of aromatherapy magic in Laikipia, Cinnabar Green originally only grew essential oils for export before the team noticed the need for locally produced, environmentally responsible body products. It is now B-Corp certified and made in Kenya. The brand's strength for melanin-rich skin lies in its ingredient sourcing: what their farm cannot support climatically they source locally from small-scale growers, including avocado, baobab, macadamia, jojoba and shea oils and butters. These oils, baobab high in omega fatty acids, cape chestnut for eczema and psoriasis, are precisely the rich emollients deep, often drier African skin benefits from. The brand also runs reforestation and community projects on the lower slopes of Mt. Kenya. Honest caveat: this is a broad natural body-care line rather than a shade-driven deep-skin specialist, and founder details are thin, but as an obscure, ethically grounded, locally made gem it earns its place.
