Kaeme

Kaeme, Akan for "remember me", is a premium Ghanaian personal-care house built by Freda Obeng-Ampofo, a policy professional and economist who calls herself the brand's "chief mixer." Having grown up using shea butter and black soap, she was repeatedly stopped on the streets of France and asked about her glowing skin, which led her to introduce premium Ghanaian shea to her network. She began handing out samples that became gifts, then a business. Kaeme's range includes shea soufflés, handcrafted soy candles, liquid black soap and African-print toiletry bags, all made in small batches, free from additives, and sourced from women's cooperatives in Ghana. For deep skin, the appeal is fluffy, fragrant, deeply moisturizing whipped shea that nourishes ashy or dry melanin-rich skin without colourism. The discovery-gem angle is strong: Kaeme has won Skincare Brand of the Year three times (2021, 2023, 2024). Caveat: it's body/personal care, not shade-matched makeup.
