Boamah didn't enter beauty with a chemistry degree or corporate backing, she was a teacher who started in her kitchen with just $1,000, formulating body butters and learning production in real time. For deep skin, the formulation philosophy is explicitly melanin-first: working with a beauty chemist, hanahana formulates with plant-derived ingredients and high-quality shea to meet the needs of dry, sensitive and melanin-rich skin, elevating what the diaspora grew up on with intention and science. The ethical-sourcing depth is rare: its work with women-led shea cooperatives in Ghana goes beyond sourcing, paying roughly twice the local asking price to close the living-wage gap.
