Suzie Beauty is widely credited as Kenya's pioneer makeup brand. The growing need in Africa for an authentic, affordable, high-quality makeup brand created specifically for African women inspired Kenyan entrepreneur Suzie Wokabi to launch the cosmetics brand. Wokabi, MAC-trained and a former working makeup artist, built the line on hard-won knowledge of how the African sun and overpriced, often counterfeit imports failed dark-skinned women. She had the advantage of being a top makeup artist, working with many skin tones and understanding the needs of the African woman's skin. The brand carries a full range, foundations, concealers, powders, lippies, with a medium to full coverage foundation available in 11 shades for buildable coverage across skin tones. Distribution historically reached beyond Kenya into Kampala, Addis Ababa and Côte d'Ivoire. The SuzieBeauty brand was acquired by the Flame Tree Group in December 2015. Honest caveat: ownership changed hands, so verify current formulations and availability, but its historical role in serving deep Kenyan skin is foundational.
