Marie Hunter Beauty is a conscious-luxury cosmetics, skincare and home-fragrance house. Founder KéNisha Ruff, who began as a licensed cosmetologist in Madison, Wisconsin, has led it as Creative Director since 2016, focused on conscious luxury and sustainability. An expert in the entire cosmetics process from product development to package design, she spent five years scouring the world to identify the best and most ethical laboratories. Since launching in 2016 it has expanded to over 30 shades of lipsticks, added skincare and home fragrances, and been featured in British Vogue, House & Garden, Tatler and HuffPost. Every Marie Hunter lipstick, candle, cream and fragrance is certified cruelty-free. The discovery angle: a Black-owned indie made in the same labs as global luxury houses, with bold violet and crimson lips that flatter deep complexions. Caveat: the brand now appears to operate by appointment only, so confirm operating status before recommending.
