Since its inception in 2009 the brand has been dedicated to equitable beauty solutions for people of color, and is proudly Black and woman-owned, formulated and manufactured at its Portland, Oregon-area facility. The True Hues Flawless Finish Foundation line includes 25 shades with oil-control properties for oily and combination skin. Hayes positions it as a luxury brand at an affordable price point, meaning her cosmetics contain the same ingredients as higher-priced brands. Honest caveat: one reviewer found the shades skewed yellow/olive, making neutral matches harder. Still, a true hidden gem with deep STEM credibility and a long track record.
