Evita Joseph is an award-winning Accra beauty brand fronted by an unlikely founder. Since 2015 the brand has researched, designed and produced beauty and makeup products for the woman of colour, named after co-founder Evita Joseph Asare, a trained Mechanical Engineer and strong beauty advocate. Her makeup interest sparked during a Women in Engineering course in France, where her first experience was at a MAC store being told she needed a concealer. For deep skin, the brand's reputation rests on its viral brow products and skin-of-colour focus: it offers brow liners, makeup brushes, highlighters, eyeshadows, lipsticks, lip glosses and tools. Asare has since extended into formulated skincare. The brand was crowned Ghanaian Owned Brand of the Year at the Makeup Ghana Awards 2018, with its flagship Expert Brow Liner. A founder-led indie with a great origin story and real international stockists like Marjani.
