Founded by the legendary artist who has painted Jennifer Aniston, Gwyneth Paltrow and worked Fashion Week backstage, it has fast become one of the most sought-after luxury makeup brands. The Vital Skin Foundation Stick is a silicone-free, antioxidant-rich, skincare-forward base, and the brand publishes application tutorials demonstrated on fair, medium, and deep skin tones, with the deep tutorial blended on complexions up to Atelier XII. But honesty is essential here: deep-skin coverage is the brand's real weakness. One reviewer who loved the formula called the shade range "disappointing", great for fair-to-medium, but with very few options for medium-dark to deep/dark complexions across the roughly 20 shades. Included for completeness and its newer Sun Tone bronzing cremes (which do reach deeper), but deep-skin buyers should approach the foundation cautiously and swatch first.
