Liha Beauty
Founded by Abi Oyepitan and Liha Okunniwa

Liha Beauty bridges Yoruba tradition and British craft. Founded by two best friends, Gloucestershire-born Liha Okunniwa and Londoner Abi Oyepitan, Liha Beauty merges English aromatherapeutic techniques with ingredients from Yoruba tradition. Co-founder Abi Oyepitan is also a former Olympic sprinter, and the pair met as students in the late 1990s. Their products stem from the Yoruba tradition of making soaps, body lotions, and all kinds of beauty oil from nuts, plants, and tree barks, and all products are made by hand in the UK. The brand is a strong fit for deep skin because its oils, butters and black soap address the dryness, ashiness and glow concerns common to richly melanated complexions, drawn directly from West African beauty rituals rather than retrofitted from Eurocentric formulas. Aside from its high-quality formulas and beautiful brand aesthetics, all of Liha Beauty's packaging is recyclable and reusable. Now stocked at Liberty and Cult Beauty, it has graduated from kitchen-table indie to recognised name while keeping its handmade, heritage-rooted ethos intact, an accessible entry point into African-diaspora skincare.
