Hourglass is a prestige, cruelty-free, largely vegan brand that historically lacked deep foundation shades, and visibly corrected course. A beauty editor noted that despite loving the brand for years, Hourglass always lacked when it came to foundation range, offering a few deeper colors but nothing notable, until the Vanish stick. The three deepest Vanish shades are Walnut (deep, warm), Chestnut (deep, neutral) and Espresso (deep, cool), giving real undertone choice at the deep end. The Vanish Seamless Finish Foundation Stick is now available in 32 shades with a high-pigment, waterproof, longwear formula praised for covering hyperpigmentation and dark spots. Honest caveats: the deepest shades skew red, which works beautifully for deep skin with rich red undertones but not everyone; and the liquid Vanish drew criticism for pulling yellow on some medium-to-tan tones. Best to swatch in person. Still, the Ambient Lighting line and Vanish stick make it a credible prestige pick for deep complexions.
