Gold Label Cosmetics
Founded by Kristen Elise Brown

Gold Label Cosmetics is a New York indie color line built by a makeup artist who wanted luxury lippies that genuinely show up on deep skin. Started by makeup artist Kristen Elise Brown in 2012, the brand began as a venture to create a cosmetics line that had women from all walks of life in mind. Brown launched it after she saw a lack of inclusivity in beauty imagery, realizing her calling was bigger than styling. The lipsticks and matte lip pens are cruelty-free, paraben-free and richly pigmented; beauty editors specifically swatched and championed them on dark skin. The Matte Lip Pen range includes shades like Nairobi, a vintage chocolate brown in a long-lasting matte finish. The lipsticks have been worn by the likes of Viola Davis and Jennifer Hudson. A genuine hidden gem stocked by Black-owned boutiques like Harlem's Vivrant Beauty. Caveat: it's a small operation and you should confirm the site is still actively selling before relying on it.
