Eadem
Founded by Marie Kouadio Amouzame & Alice Lin Glover

Eadem is a melanin-first skincare brand co-founded by Marie Kouadio Amouzame, who was born in Côte d'Ivoire before moving to France and then the US. Lin Glover's family is from Taiwan, and Kouadio Amouzame was born in Côte d'Ivoire, moved to France when she was three and came to the United States in 2014. The co-founders met while working at Google, bonded over their immigrant parents, from the Ivory Coast and Taiwan, and over both struggling to find effective hyperpigmentation skincare. Its breakthrough product addresses dark spots without bleaching: the Milk Marvel dark-spot serum is packed with niacinamide, vitamin C and algae and works to decrease and prevent spots without lightening the overall skin tone, unlike many conventional spot treatments on darker skin. Eadem relies on a custom formula and enlisted a woman-of-color formulator and dermatologist; it took 25 iterations to get the product right. The honest caveat: this is a US brand with only a founder's diaspora link to francophone West Africa.
