LAMIK (Love And Makeup In Kindness) is a clean, vegan indie built on a deeply personal mission. At age 21, Kim Roxie founded LAMIK out of her college apartment, opening her first store in Sharpstown Mall in Houston with her savings and a small investment from her mother. The brand was born from the fact that 75% of products targeted to women of color are toxic; LAMIK created a vegan line of clean ingredients that fit all skin tones, from the lightest to the deepest. Its deep-skin hero is the made-to-order foundation: a custom creation where you purchase, send a selfie in natural lighting, receive a sample made just for you, verify the match by email, and then receive a full-size foundation. That selfie-to-shade model sidesteps the off-the-shelf matching problem entirely for deep complexions. A genuine hidden gem with two decades of history and a clean-beauty backstory rooted in the founder's late mother.
