Pholk Beauty is an academic-turned-activist's vegan line rooted in African diaspora folk remedies, a true discovery gem. When Niambi Cacchioli founded Pholk, she connected her American Southern roots with her academic background and the African Diaspora, building what the brand calls "soul food for the skin." A fifth-generation gardener and African diaspora historian raised in Kentucky, she pivoted to beauty after struggling to find products for her melanin-rich, reactive skin. The brand understands deep-skin reactivity intimately: she notes how sensitive and reactive melanin-rich skin can be, where the smallest irritation can lead to dark marks and scarring, so Pholk uses only natural, ultra-gentle, non-pore-clogging ingredients. She launched Pholk in 2018. The Jersey City brand has partnerships with Goop, Credo and Thirteen Lune. Popular items include the Honeysuckle Rose Face Mist and Werkacita Beauty Balm.
